LECTURE SERIES: BIMSB and the MDC join Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin in a new Ringvorlesung (German for lecture series) on the topic Gene Dys-Regulation in Cancer. EMBO MEMBER: Systems biologist Professor Nikolaus Rajewsky from the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) Berlin-Buch, Germany, has been elected member of the European Molecular Biology Organization.

SUMMER SCHOOL: 64 scientists and students met from August 22 to August 25, 2010 in Blossin, Brandenburg. Lectures on the BIMSB project, mass spectrometry and mathematical modeling were complemented by student talks, post-doc career profiles and journal clubs.

BIMSB and its partners Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin join to present current perspectives on systems biology. The topic for discussion is the regulation of cellular process.

AWARD: Nikolaus Rajewsky receives the Science Award of the Governing Mayor of Berlin
Nikolaus Rajewsky receives the Science Award of the Governing Mayor of Berlin on January 22, 2010 in recognition of his “outstanding research achievements, the implementation of which can contribute to solutions for problems relevant to science and society”. This honour and prize of 40,000 Euros for research activities at the MDC is bestowed in recognition of his services to the Berlin scientific community. It acknowledges his personal academic achievements in the fields of RNA and Developmental Biology and, in particular, his pivotal role in elucidating the function of microRNAs – the regulators of practically all important living processes from embryogenesis to metabolic activity and the immune system.
